Digital Camera

hi,
I need to buy a new digital camera and have reviewed the Canon Ixus 70, Canon Ixus 75 and the Casio Exilim Z75. I was wondering if anyone had any views/recommendations on any of these. I hope I am posting in the right place - this is my first mse post.

thanks
Marie

  • Try Steves Digicams and dpreview . I know the casio z77 gets a very good review on Steves Digicams and there was a deal on Hot Uk Deals where you bought a camera bag, then added the camera of your choice and the price of the bag was deducted twice. I think they have fixed it now but still getting a free case is cool! Link here your 3 cameras are all on the top row.

Just bought a Canon Ixus 70. It's small and pictures seem good in the small use I've had from it. Auto mode gives good pictures - loads of specialised features too but didnt have much success with the aquarium and night mode - I must have shook too much or something. One of my friends (who's into proper SLRs and knows stuff like white balance, ISO numbers and things) got one for Christmas and is impressed with the picture quality.

I'm a bit old fashioned so I like a viewfinder rather than looking at the LCD and teh Ixus 70 has one - not sure the others have one. In my view, it makes the batteries on any camera last a lot longer if you turn the LCD view off so you get a full days use out of one charge! Obviously, only turn the LCD thing on when you're taking an awkward picture through railings and stuff.

Only other thing is the Ixus both come with a non-stnadard battery (my old camera used AA ones so I just had a pocketfull of charged batteries to keep it going), so if it runs out you have to either buy a spare battery (probably quite expensive) or have to have your camera out of action for the couple of hour charge time.

I got it through Amazon - not sure if offer is still on - but bought the camera (priced £116ish), added a "body glove" which was on offer as get one free with a camera (priced £12.93) and it double discounted so total for camera and case was £104.99 delivered about 2 or 3 weeks ago. Remember to choose free delivery. The discount was taken off after you went through the login.

    Good luck with choosing!

I have an exilim 850, fab camera, love it; worth having a look on the boots site, they have some offers on cameras at the moment - hth :)
  • don't ignore Fujifilm cameras they have the best price/quality ratio, the old F20 F30 etc were unbeatable https://secure.fujifilm.co.uk/shop/consumer/digital/digital-cameras/advanced-compact/finepix-f30-zoom
