Old DCS Pension Query

Hello,

This is my first post and I have a lot to learn about pensions so please be gentle!

I initially came across this site as we have started thinking about how to reduce our mortgage. Last night while sorting through all our paperwork I came across an old annual statement for a DCS scheme.

Its a HSBC DCS for which I contributed to for four years before being made redundant so I have therefore left the scheme. I didnt do anything with it at the time as I was made redundant while pregnant so had other things to think about.

I am now working part time and contributing to the NHS pension scheme. I would therefore like to know what would be the best thing to do with this HSBC one? As at 2005 the value was £4k - can this be transferred into my current pension?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi. We can't give individual advice. Provided the NHS pension accepts transfers in - you should be able to find that out from the scheme booklet or by ringing the administrators - then a transfer would be possible.

Can't help you on whether that is the best thing or not though.
I have worked for 5 years as a Pension Administrator and then a further year in a non-administrator pension role. I am not (and never have been) an adviser. Do not take anything I say as advice, it is information given on the best of my knowledge.
