good to hear, keep the updates coming, its good for others to look at as it gives us all a rough estimate to go by.
i didnt fill in the part on the form to transfer my banking, i want to keep it where it is (for now). and i just want to pay a standing order every month into my first direct account when its set up.
    does this sound ok?

I also thought I would do that, but the more I think about it the more I think I'll bank with FD. They get rave reviews for (banking!) service, and there is the offset effect on your mortgage interest payments. Why not bank with them?

Think I'll get moved first though.

    They do sound good.

I think my son likes the convenience of HBOS with regards being able to have different web savers as opposed to just one "pot". It has also meant that transfers between me and him have been instantaneous as we're both with HBOS.

i bank with hsbc (part of first direct) and im very happy with them, thats why i just wanted to pay a standing order into the first direct account. i may well transfer it in the future when i get used to the mortgage and online facility etc?
(can you pay a lump sum off the f.d mortgage online once everything is up and running? and see it come off the mortgage balance? say £200 here and there whan i can afford to do so)
  • I've banked with FD for 15 years and would recommend them. I tried A&L for the £100 cashback and interest free overdraft, but (1) their internet banking updates once a day at about 10pm, and (2) when you do need to call them, they're not very helpful at all! FD customer service is a lot better, and I can usually see same day transactions (debit cards / cash withdrawals) the same evening.
  • Great news Dweeby.

I said I will be transferring my account, I thought I might as well and get the benefit of the offset. Now I'm particularly glad I have as they are really good on the phone. Always polite, always helpful, so I'd be happy to move to them.
  • Meant to ask, has anyone had the booking fee taken yet? Mine hasn't and I wondering when it gets taken.

i paid mine over the phone on thursday - and i rang yesterday ( mon 18th feb) to ask why it hadnt been taken. they confirmed the last 4 digits of the card number i gave them and said they had taken it, said it could be 48 - 72 hrs before it shows and longer if its over a weekend.
