just a quicky regarding current accounts and dmp

hi all so i'm still trying to figure out the best option for us after speaking to cccs. Just a quick question i have regarding dmp and our current account. We live out in the sticks (really have to drive to practically anything!)however we have a branch of nationwide that is in walking distance thus why we have always banked with them (since we were kids). We have an o/d on this account which we go in and out of each month and are currently trying to pay off to some extent.I have added this o/d into my soa with cccs and its been suggested that we open a new account however this is going to be really difficult. It would mean driving at least 15 miles and paying to park everytime i need to go to the bank, as i assume i will only be given a really basic account so no cheque book and need to use hole in the wall to obtain cash?
Do i need to lose this account or can we keep it open?anyone else had the same problem? just seems a little un cost effective if you take into account the added fuel and parking costs?

I live in the sticks and bank by internet with envelopes for paying cheques in its very easy.
I have an A&L account with debit card and cheque books, I also just before I went on my DMP opened a cahoot account and can pay things over the counter at a post office as well as envolopes so even better.
The main thing to consider is that you have a bank accoutn which is unrelated to anyone you owe money too other wise they can take money out your bank account.0 -
hiya thank you for your reply had no idea about the cheque thingy?thats interesting, think i will have to do a bit of research on this!always assumed you had to go to the bank to do banking!(oh and the odd bits online of course!)0

Co-op allows you to bank at the post office. Cash paid over the counter credits instantly, cheques in about a week but clear. I have never been in a Co-op branch. I also have a Nationwide as the main bills account, but have to do everything bar drawing cash in branch. Post Office counters seem to work as a link machine.0
