Out of Date Ritz Biscuits

Maybe a challenge too far this one? I have a pack of ritz biscuits - 5 months out of date. I opened them yesterday - they are a little soft and a bit greasy. No good with cheese, but what else are they good for

So any ideas what I should do with them?

i'd whizz them in blender or bash them up in a placcy bag and sprinkle on top of shepherds pie for a crunchy topping. there lovely like that.

    Good one.

However I dont like shepherd's pie. Not going to be right on top of a pasta bake.....

You could always try popping them in the oven to crisp them up and make them edible as biscuits - alternatively I could think of a few birds that would enjoy them....

    LOL!!!!

As far as temp and time goes - I would wing it - probably a medium hot oven (I would do gas mark 7, but not sure how that relates to deg F or deg C! and about 5 mins or so if the oven was preheated - shouldn't take long. Alternatively if I was going to be using the oven anyway, I would just bung them in at whatever temp I was needing it at anyway for as long as they seem to need.

Just to add - I quite often do the same with bread rolls past their best, bung them in a hot oven just before you need them and it revives them wonderfully.

So do you then have to eat them straightaway, or can you cool them and put in a tub?

I have never tried it with biscuits, only with bread, but would imagine that you could store them airtight for a while - but will probably be best straight away.

    This is guesswork though.

OK thanks, I have done this with bread too. It might be worth a try if I have the oven on. A little home experiment (I'm a scientist, but no Heston Blumenthal in the kitchen!)
