Newbie here, been lurking for too long, now need a simple question answered.
I've got four credit card accouts, all the cards are cut up, and all without any outstanding debt. I have not as yet closed the accounts tho'. Is there any advantage to closing the accounts.
Thanks

if you have only cut up the cards is the any chance that you may call the c/c company for a replacement if you feel that you may need to use it again? The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about - Oscar Wilde:beer:

From a 'bad' point of view, you are more likely to get more credit in future as you aren't over-exposed..... but as a DFW... u are less likely to be tempted to spend..... don't just cut, cancel!

Make sure you get some confirmation from the credit card companies that they have closed your account. Some companies are notorously difficult to accept that people no longer want their products. For example, I closed an MBNA card about 4 years ago. A few years later, a statement appeared out of the blue - they'd never bothered closing it.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0
