i wanna get married abroad!

My partner and i want to get married - preferably abroad. We're not all that fussy really, we just want to avoid a big fuss and family arguements so want to go away and do it on our own with our children! We don't want a 'big day' - don't want cake, flowers, etc - just to get married. I don't have a clue where to start though as it generally seems to be big packages through holiday companies, and we obviously want to do it as cheap as poss. If anyone has any tips, please let me know :)

TY!

    Hi,

We got married in cyprus, we didn't book it through a travel agent we did it ourselves.
We booked a two week holiday, then I found the phone number and address for the local town hall (like their council i suppose) i gave them a ring, very scary but the lady spoke ok(ish) english. she explained what i needed to do.

I think they sent me all the details in the post, I think they gave me an e-mail address and we arranged dates and times that way? We had to fill out some forms and take them with us on our day of arrival into cyprus and pay the marriage fee. I can't remember exactly how much it was but something like £50 or £80 I think....anyway ths had to be done straightaway and at least 7 days before the wedding date.
Then all we ad to do was turn up on the day with our witnesses, we didn't realise we were meant to have any but my brother had come away with us luckily and a lady at the town hall acted as our other witnes (you need two!)

Anyway that was it, simple fuss free and the best thing we have ever done...

I hope i have been some help PM me if you want to..
