Help - I am getting frustrated

I have been a lurker on this site for about 18 mths now and have reduced my debts considerably. This afternoon I decided to take the bull by the horns, get online and try and reduce some more out goings.

Firstly I managed to reduce my phone tarif by £20.00 per mouth - horray. Then I managed to reduce my House Insurance by £12 per month - horray. This took me nearly 3 hours - I now cannot face 2 lots of car insurance. Does it take everyone this long or am I reading too much small print.? Paige X

Think about it in the way that Martin talks about doing a Money Makeover - it'll be the highest-earning day you work this year! Over a year, you've saved yourself £240 for the phone and £144 for the house insurance. That's an hourly rate of £128 tax-free for your three hours' work! Pretty damn impressive I'd say and well worth the time you put in :) but maybe give yourself a break before tackling the car insurance ;)

Thanks - I never thought of it like that. I am going to tackle the Car Insurance later this week. No wonder people get complacent with monthly expenditure - a big hassle to do all at once. I think every time I get in a renewal I will check it and then it wont take as long all at once. Paige X

I also have a quick read of my old cover to make sure I cover all points in my renewal quote.

My car insurance looked cheaper until I upped the excess to match what I would have paid with my current policy. I ended up with car insurance only £10 cheaper, but with £90 cashback through quidco, so it was still worth it. I could have had the car insurance for much less, but don't like to take a chance with the excess. It can be pretty hard to find a large sum sometimes.

    Hi Paige

How did you get on with the rest of your bills?

Have you posted a SOA? Not sure if you are in debt, but you may be able to negotiate what you owe with your creditors/the interest etc as well as your usual outgoings.

Well done though, sounds like youre doing well.

Unfortunately it does take a while - used to drive me nuts. Well worth it though! xx
