Hi, I cant help you with the spec I'm afraid, but my boyfriend just bought this tv from dixons and got 5% off using FIVEOFFTV and an extra £20 off using QC20 bringing it down to £559.49,thought it was an excellent deal.

Same codes can be used for any tv on dixons at the moment and you also get free delivery, the stands are really reasonable on there too. Hope this helps

HD Ready
While the Samsung LE40R88BD does not offer full HD 1080p compatibility it does do great things with 1080i allowing you to exploit the current Sky, Virgin Media offerings.
Just checked out the above tv looks good. What does the above mean about not offering "full 1080 compatability"0 -
just trying to bump this one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0

Well from what I know, 1080p only has a noticable difference on tvs over 40" and are designed to work with things such as blu-ray dvd and playstation 3. As far as I know the tv companies such as sky and virgin are not broadcasting in this resolution yet so you wouldnt see a difference when watching tv. So basically unless your main use for the tv would be for playstation 3 or blu-ray dvd then there shouldnt be a problem with the 1080i.0

Thanks for your reply. Think i got to have this one. Many thanks again .0

Looks like the FIVEOFFTV code has expired today sometime. It was working earlier on as I tried it and it was giving me both the deals above but I decided not to go through to checkout until my OH came home from work to see if he liked the TV. Can`t believe it`s not working now!!!!!!0 -
I got an email from them tonight. 5% off code expired at 5pm today..
Raging myself...:mad:0 -
1080p is a higher pixel output to 1080i. It's basically a better resolution, but you'll be expecting to pay a substantial amount more when the TVs are 40"+ wih 1080i. My brother purchased the 50" 1080i and it's still a really good resolution, but as with everything you get what you pay for!
If you're not getting Sky +, xBox 360's or Playstation 3's, I'd get it!
1080i is still a whole new level compared to the standard 540/720 output

Well called into currys to ask the guy about a tv and he said if going for 40" or over would be better going for a plasma as opposed to LCD. Did also say the 1080p was more superior. Just decorating at the moment so have decided to hold off til March , hopefully be some good bargains around then.
He did recommend a LG TV it was an LCD with built in hard drive - so you dont need a dvd recorder ......APPARENTLY......but then it was lcd which he said wasnt as good as a Plasma ?????? Duh, we gave up when he started talking about Blue rays being more superior than dvd's......I am only 40 but technology is leaving me behind....0
