Advice needed - refund...

Not sure if this is the right place to post but hopefully you may be able to help me...

In July I signed up for some advertising for my self employed business, and paid £150 first installment. I was told that the advert would be live within 4 weeks.

In October, the next installment of £150 was due, but the advert was still yet to go live. I called and requested that they do not take the payment until they could let me know what was happening with the advert. They still took the money. They then said that the venue had pulled out so the advert would not be going up at all.

So they owed me just over £300. I asked for them to refund my card in October. I chased and chased, with phone calls and e-mails every day. Being ignored and hung up on each time i tried. Eventually, I got the money back in JANUARY - 3 months later!!!

Have i got any arguement for any sort of compenstaion? The money was from my credit card so i was paying interest on it all of the time they had it and it was sitting in their bank gaining interest.

Do you think I would have anything to gain by lodging a complaint?

I would report them to trading standards in the first instance and see what they say about it.

i did consider that and wondered if that was the right place to go.
