Hi all,
I know this is almost certainly in the wrong section but I think you guys know more about credit reference agencies than most
Ok so when you obtain credit the company that provides it marks your credit report usually monthly to say that its been paid/ not paid etc.
If you dont have a credit facility with the named company are they allowed to and should they be commenting on your credit file?
I opened an RBS account a while back, well three to be truthful, a savings account thats empty:eek:, a key account on which you cant have an overdraft etc and then a month or so later a normal current account which is able to have an overdraft but doesnt, * just to clarify I dont mean I have an overdraft and dont use it....I just dont have one full stop;)*
I also have a curent account with Lloyds again without overdraft and they dont mark my report but RBS do.I have two accounts under Bank on the CRA file, both with RBS.
Each month they register payment made on time (green ok symbol) but I have no type of credit with them so are they allowed to do this?
If anyone can just confirm this isnt allowed/shouldnt be happening I can just send them a letter now but want to make sure im spot on here.
Im trying to clear my debts and tidy up my report...one star is abysmal
Thanks all :T

I have a current account with Abbey which did not have an overdraught facility until recently.
For many years, well before the overdraught was granted, it has shown on all 3 CRA files as a Bank account and is reported every month.
I believe it's normal practise.Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. Debt at highest approx £102,000. Debt now (October 2009 - absolutely fork all!!!)

It is for many banks now.
It didn't used to be, and I don't think quite all the banks do it yet. Hence the confusion with some being there while others are not.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
