Officially called the Eco Media Player, it can store up to 500 songs and comes complete with an FM radio, torch, voice recorder and video player.
It costs around £140 and even doubles as an emergency mobile phone charger.

i know its easy to bash these things, but i wonder if the energy expended in manufacturing one of these is significantly different (either lower or higher) than that used to make an ipod?
and does anyone know how the electricity used to charge an ipod compares to the energy used in manufacturing? I would imagine that the charging energy over a couple of years of use, say, is very small compared to the amount used to make it but I don't know?
On the other hand without a rechargeable battery like the ipod, you wouldn't "have" to replace this one after a couple of years of frequent use like you do with an ipod (GRR!)0 -
I saw this in the Times yesterday, looks pretty neat. :yes:Pick battles big enough to matter, small enough to win. - Jonathan Kozol0
