Sainsburys Free cool bag offer (merged threads)

Sainsburys have an offer if you buy 5 items from their marked range ie from the deli shelves ..ham turkey cooked chicken etc they will give you a free coolbag.

To go with this they have sausage rolls buy one get one free about £1.80 pack.
I got some yesterday and the sausage roll packs ( got one free) counted as 2 items.

Does the coolbag scan as free automatically when you've purchased 5 stickered items? Or does the cashier have to adjust it?

Reason I ask is that these items are often heavily reduced in my Sainsburys ;)

Yes it did scan after 5. That included the 2 packs of sos/rolls with the buy one get free offer. (They counted as 2 items). I asked the cashier if it had gone through after the 5 packs and she said yes. I wasn't sure if the sos roll (BOGOF) offer would only scan as 1 item but it scanned as 2.
I think Sainsburys usually keep the offers on reduced items although goods I bought yesterday were not reduced. In fact i have never seen the deli shelves packed so full with stuff. usually empty at the weekends.
Watch the dates on items though. I always take from the back of shelf.

The checkout op. will mark your receipt "to collect cool bag later" or similar if you grumble about them having run out.

I'm a Sainsbury's cashier... Nothing comes up on the screen if you buy 5 of the marked items, but if we notice or you say to us then you can just take the bag no prob. We don't even need to scan the bag either since (where I work anyway) they're not for sale anyway. Either you get to take it free with 5 items, or you can't have one! :D

Generally any pre-existing offer will still stand even if an item is reduced, a la bogof, multibuys, free stuff, etc.

Reduced multibuys (2 for £3.50 or something of that ilk) are good to save extra money as the computer just takes of a preset amount of money when they are scanned, even if they have been reduced as well.
    Nice to save.

I once bought some eggs in Sainsburys that were reduced and on offer and the cashier said she would have to give me money back because of the double savings.
So I got a box of eggs and got paid for taking them.!
