Going through boxes of dads paperwork - old pensions

Found 2 old prudential pensions, dad moved house about 8 years ago and he never looks at paperwork reckons he paid into them for years through his bank account though. One payment he must have made was £2 in the 70's!
Is there any chance he could get shares from this?

  • If your dad is over age 50 then he should be able to retire the pensions. Exactly what he will get and in what form will depend on the size of the pensions and also what other pensions he has.

First thing to do is contact Prudential and get the address updated then they will be able to send you up-to-date details on the pensions and the options available.
I have worked for 5 years as a Pension Administrator and then a further year in a non-administrator pension role. I am not (and never have been) an adviser. Do not take anything I say as advice, it is information given on the best of my knowledge.
  • Thanks now have done this, dads now 70 with a complete fear of paperwork (a bit like myself).
