Furniture Village Bedstead and Mattress .. but want it cheaper!

Hi

I have seen a bedstead - Oakdale (http://www.furniturevillage.co.uk/bedrooms/bedsteads/oakdale - £599) - and tried a matress - Sleepeezee Marseilles (£499) - in Furniture Village but, with Tim Deegan's words of advice ringing in my ears, decided not to buy there and then but come home and look for the same items online to see if I can get them cheaper. However, I am strugling as no-one seems to stock 'Sleepeezee Versailles'. Do the mattress companies re-label for other stores to stop people shopping around?

Can anyone advise any similar (preferably the same!) mattresses for a cheaper price?

Many thanks for any advice.

I would think they probably do.
I would recommend sending sleepeezee an email, requesting the 'other' name that mattress goes by sales@sleepeezee.co.uk

    Hi Saintscouple

Such an obvious answer I am ashamed to say that didn't even occur to me!

Thanks. Will send an email now.

  • Hi

Yes, I saw that and they are on quidco too! Fingers crossed they get back to me and I can find someone else who stocks cheaper. I have seen a few cheaper bed frames online but am not sure I am prepared to buy one witout seeing the quality beforehand IYKWIM.

    Thanks

Some of the large stores do have beds made to their spec, or have them labeled with a different name. There are two main reasons why they do this:

    1) So that they can give a price guarantee when they are the only company who sell that model anyway. So they can in fact charge what they want.

    2) From the outside two beds may look identical. However it's when it comes to internal components that there can be a huge difference in quality. Some large chain stores get the manufacturers to make a mattress the a low quality spec to keep the price down, but then sell it to the public at the price of a high quality mattress.

If you do buy from Furniture Village, then ask then for a full specification list for all the components of the mattress. They don't actually say much about it in the listing.

You may find that Sleepeezee refuse to give you any information about comparable models.

    Hi Tim

I have emailed Sleepeezee and will see what they say. I fear that they won't give that information. Off to send hubby off to get the full specification now ...

    Thanks for the reply.

Good luck......like you said you might find it difficult to get information from them, but say you won't buy it without the specs.
