Do I have to send copies of my wage slips???

I have a debt with the Bradford & Bingley Building Society which an ex boyfriend left me with a number of years ago:mad: In order to agree a repayment plan they are demanding to see my wage slips other debt information and bank statements, basically everything relating to my financial life which I normally keep fairly private (for obvious reasons) do I have to give them this information or would they have to take me to Court or something to order me to divulge it to the Court? Thank you

Hi KJK
Why do they want to see them?? do they think you aren't being reasonable with what you are offering??
I don't think you can be forced to show them at this stage, but it might be easier to let them see the statement of your main bank account so that you can get this all set up and sorted out, I would also say that they shouldn't need to make copies if you are worried about personal info floating around.
Basically I don't know the answer but it might make sorting this all out a lot easier if they can see what you have and what your outgoings are.

If you don't want to come to an agreement with them - then no you don't. If you do - then they need to know what you can afford to pay back. There's no question as far as I know of them taking you to court to make you reveal the information. Also, they will probably only need to know the current state of play rather than needing to dig back into the past.0

The information you are asked to provide must be 'reasonable'.
If they have requested, say, you last payslip and last months bank statement (to confirm the salary you have on your payslip went into your bank (the payslip could be fake because you can buy them on the internet now  ) and your SOA is 'reasonable') then this would be seen as reasonable. If however, they have requested the last 6-12 months payslips/statements, then tell them to go.....I think you know the rest...

In short the answer is no they can't forve you to provide wage slips. Provided you give them a income/expenditure sheet that is sufficient. there is absolutely no reason to provide more information than this. Obviously demonstrating your other outgoings to creditors will show you are paying them on a pro-rata basis etc.
I have never provided copies of wage slips and never would.0
