Edinburgh Shuttle

I have to pass on to you all the wonderful Edinburgh Shuttle service I used from Edinburgh airport to my hotel within Edinburgh City centre, this weekend.

A single fare only costs £8 but because there was two of us it was £15 straight to your door. For the return journey, which also cost £15 for two, we gave Edinburgh Shuttle a call and they picked us up right outside the hotel.

The drivers we had, were soooooo friendly and knowlegable about the City and made us feel very welcome. One of the drivers told us that the company are part of the bus company of Edinburgh, which were voted UK bus company of the year in Nov '07 and that the Shuttle had won an award after only 10 months in operation.

Oh! you can find the Shuttle just outside the UK arrivals at Edinburgh airport.
They really are first class, thank you guys :T :T :T :T :T

  • Thanks bigron>
I told my cousin about it, he flies in from Amsterdam Thursday. He had calculated all the bus and taxi combinations already (we can't pick him up) but said this was good. We are just one street away from their coverage in Morningside, but 3 mins from Churchill, so I'd hope the driver may be be kind and drop them outside my door! I'll give you a report from him later this week.
  • I had a bad experience with Edinburgh Shuttle. Myself and my wife and 14 month old kid went to get the van from airport to city centre they asked me to pay 24£(pay for the kid as well). That was strange to charge for 14 month old kid.I took a taxi it took only £20. Airport Buses are cheaper, they charge only 3£
  • It does say no reduced fares for children, however according to their website it should have cost you £21...

    Hi all,

    Had to reply to rajakumar.
Looking on the Airport Bus website, they only take you into Edinburgh city centre. You would then have to either take another bus or get a taxi.
As many visitors to most major cities are tourists, we don't take local buses as we don't know what one to take and where from. On this assumption, taking a taxi, would cost you more than taking the Shuttle in the first place, which, takes you to your door within their zone.

Also, I can't see how they could have tried to charge you £24 as I noticed at their kiosk when I was paying and also chatting to the driver, the prices are all pre-programmed in the machines they use.

You're correct Edinburghlass, their tarrifs on their website give you a scale of charges and it does say no reductions for children, so I don't honestly know rajakumar, how you come by your comments

I'll most definately be using the Shuttle on my next visit :T
  • I would point out though to visitors coming into Edinburgh Airport that the airport bus is £3 single and £5 open return so if you are staying on the bus route through Corstorphine, Murrayfield, Roseburn and into Princes Street and not carrying too much luggage you will obviously be cheaper using that.
  • Agree with you there Edinburghlass, the airport bus is very good value, we have used it quite a bit. Found it cheaper to get return train tickets and use the airport bus, rather than paying for fuel and parking costs when going on holiday. Saying that, we're not travelling with children, which would make taking the car an easier option.
  • Further to my cousins visit: he though the shuttle very good.
He travels a lot, in Europe and USA, and was impressed by the cost and service. He landed at 4pm, and was at my door at 4:45. I would have struggled to do that with a car direct. So he will use again, definitely. Maybe the cheap(free) lodgings at my place swung it?
It does depend were you are going tho', as others have posted. I have always recommended the Airlink in the past. Be interesting to see how the Tram works out.
