Anyone on DMP who has had interest and charges put back on by Halifax

Do you think you may have PPI or charges to reclaim? If so send a letter now!

I decided to get my statements and apply for a refund from halifax as even though I'm on a DMP with CCCS they put interest and charges back on about 3 months ago. really unhelpful on the phone saying DMP only temporary so tough luck.

anyway decided I now have nothing to loose by trying to reclaim charges (as they had already put interest and charges back on which is what I was worried about). Totalled it up and it came to almost £2000 with interest!!! My outstanding balance is only £600!!!

Needless to say I sent the reclaim letter off and about 3 days later I receieve a courtesy call from them to let me know they have frozen interest and charges for me again!!!!! Do you think they are hoping I wont pursue my claim now?!!! he he he :D

Anyway - long and short of it is if you're in a similar situation to me- GET RECLAIMING!!!

That's a fantastic result. We only have about £500 charges and owe £1.5k so hoping to knock that down a bit before we ask for them back.

Can I ask, how long into the DMP did they stick the charges back on?

It was exactly 12 months after it started. At the time they said they only ever stick to it for 12 months and there's no leeway to put you back on it but obviously that's not true.

Have you calculated your charges with interest and do you have ppi on the card? You might find it clears your balance with this added on.

Hmm he did have PPI on some cards, pretty useless since he's self employed - shall have to investigate.

We've just hit the year mark :(

definately check the ppi as this was the biggest thing on my statements (accounts for about £1500). Good luck!

We're on a DMP with CCCS and have been since Sept 2006. Halifax did freeze charges and interest initially however they have now started to add this back on. We rang them and they refused to budge on this saying that this will go on for 5 months and then the debt will be passed to DCA. This is also the same with Sainsburys. We have written to them (they both have the same address interestingly) but have never heard anything!

also had the same with Halifax, started adding interest and charges after 2yrs on a DMP, said the same to me 6 months then off to a DCA but nothing happened yet and its been over 6 months...
  • also had the same here, they started adding interest back on after about 8 months they advised us they were selling to a dca but offered us a settlement. We owed about £5,800 and phoned and offered a settlemnt of £2.100 (my husbands yearly bonus amount) and they accepted. Donethe same with this years bonus and nat west havw knocked £7,5000 off a laon.

Think they just want to get rid of us now!!!!

Halifax now run the Sainsburys banking section and if they move the debt to be collected by a 3rd party it will most likely to be Blair, Oliver & Scott - who I find much more helpfull that Halifax / Sainsburys
