It's been a long hard Jan and I thought it would be good to have a bit of positive thinking amongst the doom and gloom of debt busting! I know debt busting is hard, esp for those of us who will be around for years!! but there are good things to come from it & I thought it would be nice to remind ourselfves & each other what these are! For me they are as follows;
1) Being part of what is generally a fantastic & supportve community
2) Learning the value of simple things like making my own bread, enjoying it with my marmalade & coffee on a Sunday morning in bed with a book rather than manically planning what I will buy today that I dont need (later to be flogged at a third of the price!!)
3) My real life friends and my mum who has been an absolute star...
4) Feeling happier & confident in myself - still get quite low on occasion & suspect I always will but am now able to see why I am feeling as I am (usualy tiredness!)
5) Knowing that I have learned from my mistakes - I'll always be not great with money but I am 100% better than I was & I'm generally doing my best! (with some blips!!)
6) Being able to have regular parties in my pj's but without leaving the house! - although have a tendency to leave early!! Quite funny as I do this IRL!!
7) Finding a good survey, bonus etc & getting vouchers in the pst after spending NOT a penny!!
8) Selling a book on GM and seeing money trickle into my account...
9) the satisfaction of knowing that some things are just as good no branded - why pay £3+ for red bull when tesco own more than half price & just as good
10 Aldi & ldl - never would have crossed the threshold before but am now a convert!!
Anyone else?

OOooh great thread to start ISOM, we haven't had a postive thread for a while..... Mine are (and some are similar to yours)
1) Being part of this community, and watching the support network grow and grow. I love the fact that I can vent about my OH, and someone will listen. I can draw on the knowledge of hundreds of people by asking any question, and I won't be judged.... and I can give my little bit back by offering advice where I can.
2) Getting excited when another survey hits my inbox (yes I am sad!)
3) Making money for free!
4) Selling things on eBay/Amazon, where as pre-DFW they would have ended up in the charity shop or the bin!
5) Discovering Freecycle! Someone somewhere can alway use what u can't sell.
6) The satisfaction of knowing that OH is eating own brand/value products and if he doesn't see the packaging, he doesn't even know!'We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars' - Oscar Wilde0 -
A lot of what i consider the good things have already been said but to reiterate:
1 The support that i gain from this community and the spirit of sharing.
2 Selling things instead of just giving them away to charity - i'm even working my way up to a car boot once the season really gets going.
3 Being able to say something or ask something and not being accused of being sad, stupid, thick, an idiot.
4. Being told about freecycle.
5 Being aware of everything i spend and the real cost of it
6. Getting away from the take away habit because i was 'too tired', now i know it just takes a little planning.0 -

Making new friends who I think about when doing my everyday bits - like wondering how LT's invitations are going, or how Taxi73's double glazing is going, how Hypno's kids are and how much scrapping ISOM has done!!

Being able to change your signature to show something else paid off/money raised in a challenge!
Looking forward to the next debt payment going out so you can amend that signature again!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
also having less clutter as it's all been ebayed! not worrying about bills arriving unexpectedly as everything is so organised and budgeted for.
This site is wonderful for tips on pressies, crafting and cooking as well as the DFW support. and it's great talking to other obsessed money savers as my RL friends are soooo not interested!Mortgage OP 2025 £7050/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

The smug feeling of watching others shopping baskets on the conveyor belt and knowing that if they bought own brand then they would save about half every shop.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0
