Tread carefully. Coment have clearance warehouses around the country and very many of the goods are returns which are often in poor condition...i speak from experience. I suspect this may be an internet outlet for the same.

Yes, check out the product condition report for each item.

E.g. the mini hifi (2nd on your your link) has:

Medium scratches (front, left side, right side, top, back) - between two and five inches long

    no remote, or manual

Not only that but these items seldom go for anything near a bargain price, check this one out for instance.

You will find that these auctions tend to end up very close to what is already an inflated retail price comparison.

Comet's clearance site used to be good, before lots of people found out about it and the prices rose.

People now pay way over the odds for most of the items.

The price comparisons can definitely be misleading as they are the price in the shop, which may be a long time out of date if the item was taken off sale a while ago. For all you know, the buyer bought it as a clearance item themselves, then returned it broken/defective a while later, etc.

We bought a washing machine from them, and it had undeclared front damage and a missing control knob - basically, it was useless. We got it collected and refunded and had just wasted a few weeks of our own time when we could have bought a sensible machine.

Ironically we now have a new washing machine bought brand new from Currys Online. (Ironic because generally I wouldn't say anything better about Currys than about Comet).

You will almost always get just as good a deal by shopping around using price comparison services etc. than buying from Comet Clearance.

The small ticket items on Comet Clearance are a complete joke. For some reason people buy things for £5 less than shop prices, and then pay Comet Clearance's hugely inflated shipping costs. D'oh!

Don't want to see you purchase something you are likely to regret. :)

  • If there's something you're interested in; look at the product, come up with an upper price limit you'd pay and then see if you can get a deal...
