help can u advise

Hi need advice on what i can do

I have a deafult registered on my credit file from 02. I have contacted 02 and received a letter advising that i do not owe them any money and was not late with payments.

I have asked them to correct this and remove from my credit file but they keep advising it is equifax that needs to do this.

I have spoken to equifax who advise it is 02 that has to do this,, which i already knew.

After speaking with several 02 employees I am getting no where at all and obviously this is affecting my credit score.

Can someone advise what else i can do in regard to this?

Many thanks

  • Difficult one as with the error that was on my credit report, the company who wrongly submitted that info, changed it without question and copied me in on their letter to the CRA.

I would write via Recorded Delivery to the O2 Chief Executive's Office and tell them that his organising is wrongly processing data about you and is, therefore, breaching the Data Protection Act. If they fail to rectify that, you'll contact the Information Commissioner's Office to make a formal complaint about them.

I can't say if that's the correct way to deal with things, but it's probably how I would deal with it.

    Hope that helps.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

Pretty much the way to go as far as I know.

Would probably be best to address the complaint O2's "data controller" who is responsible for matters regarding compliance with the Data Protection Act.

EDIT: And CC a copy to the chief exec so the data controller sits up and takes notice.:p

I think that is (from here):

    Data Controller: O2 (UK) LIMITED
