Can a bank manager still give a loan even though you have bad credit?

I was wondering if I went to see my bank manager for a loan if, once a credit check has been completed can they still, at their descresion issue a loan?

I have a credit score of 626 / 1000.

I also have had £500 - £600 going into my account on a weekly basis since Dec 2006.

If I was to see my local bank manager at Abbey, based on this information are they able to issue a small loan of £6k and themselves personally override a bad credit score?

I think local managers can override the centralised requirements, but whether they'd be inclined to is another matter; must be worth a go though.
