Hi
I am not sure of my entitlement to ssp. Last month I was off work for all of my working 4 days shift and gave in a ssp form and yet I was not given ssp or a form to explain why the company hasn't paid me ssp
Is it because I am a mug working for the same small family run business for 20 years I am 51 years old am I a lost cause?
PS the last time I claimed sick pay was over 5 years ago when I broke my arm and had time off work I had ssp then. Help can somebody help me please as you can tell my employer is not the easiest to talt to about these matters thats the joy of living and working in a smal welsh town

It`s paid a week in arrears and you have qualifing days usually 3 in which you don`t get paid.
If you cannot get SSP or your SSP has ended ask your employer for form SSP1, which they should fill in and give to you. You will need to contact the Jobcentre Plus Contact Centre who will explain what you need to do with this form and how to claim Incapacity Benefit. You will find the number in your local telephone book under Jobcentre Plus.
If you think your employer’s decision to not pay you SSP is wrong, or they did not pay when they should have done, or they paid too little and you cannot sort it out with your employer (they should give the reasons in writing), contact HM Revenue & Customs Disputed Payment Team to decide the matter. Find their address at www.hmrc.gov.uk/enq/index.htm"Life is short even in its longest days".0 -
I think (but it is a while since i claimed SSP) that you have to have 5 waiting days, probably wrong phrase, basically you have to have 5 working days of to quallif then you get SSP after that,
I am probably wrong and maybe someone else can give you better infoPROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBT NERD #869

You will only be entitled to 1 day of SSP because you have to have 3 "Waiting Days", where the first three days of sickness are not paid for (unless this period of sickness is linked to an earlier one).
Just spotted previous post. You are wrong and someone did give more info
