Not sure if it should be here but i want to thank all of you who have ever made a post in here or created a thread to help with everything from homemaking!
Its really changed me as a person and made me realise money isnt everything etc etc!
For the past 3 weeks ive been doing the meal planning before i go shopping and although sometimes time consuming it has saved me £30.00 per week so now shopping bill is around £40.00 but kids sometimes complain theres nothing in to pick at but then i tell them they will wait for the meal thats HOME cooked!
My daughter who is four was a very poor eater and now i totally understand why as i was feeding her crap tbh!
Frozen spag bog waffles tinned soup and i thought i was doing her good as she still got her five a day through tins other meals etc!
But she never ate a full meal ever but since ive taken various ideas from here home made curry macaroni cheese the list goes on shes asked for 2nds everytime and im absolutely astounded!
I love the pride i feel when ive washed up and know all my familys well fed with home cooked food!
And here is me who says i carnt cook i must be able to if my dd eats more of it than frozen tinned etc"
Finding it a little harder with my dh and brother as there so used to eating crap now there finding my home cooked food a little to rich for their taste buds but thats tough as me and dd are happy!!!!
Theres just so many changes and i want to let it be known to all other young mums out there {im 23} that it is possible to learn how to cook as long as you take your time with trial and error etc!
And your children will be so much more better off with proper home cooked food my daughter has just changed in so many ways and i just carnt thank all you guys enough running low on diff meal ideas now so going to re read through the threads and get some more ideas!
Sorry for the long post im just so gratefull to you guys youve inspired me to become a better person both in saving money and looking after my family i finally feel like a real mam should by doing my upmost best for my daughter many many thanks you truly all are **************stars**********

Aww thats such a lovely post, I am so so glad you have found this forum to be of such benefit, it is to me too! It really is a warm fuzzy feeling to know you are doing right by your kids and saving money at the same time isn't it! Hope you continue to enjoy being old style, and you will be able to teach your wee one some great skills from such young age, they are never too young to get stuck in and help out and they love doing it and will have those memories forever.
Well done!!Trying to be frugal and sensible with my pennies.0 -
Sounds like its YOU who is being the ***STAR***
I will agree that this forum is a fantastic collection of ideas, but it is only going to change habits if YOU get out and put them into practice
As my hubby said years ago, watching a telly programme about how to cook cannot teach you to cook - buying ingredients and having a go CAN!
:T WELL DONE :T0 -
Thats so true angie youve got to get off ure butt and do something in order to make change i think it will be a long time away before im cooking like jamie oliver but again thanks to you guys im on my way there and its about time too!
I spent so long wishing and dreaming of becoming a better mum but got wrapped up in all the convienience foods etc that i always bypassed the idea but ive gone into it old style and LOVING IT!!!We Make A Living By What We Get. We Make A LIFE By What We GIVE:money:

Well done!! The more you cook, the more you will learn! I have always home cooked but since coming on this thread have also been doing so much more -own soups, home made bread, jams & marmalade - and so much better for you than being stuffed full of chemicals. Keep up the good work0

Aw! What a nice post.
I know just what you mean.
I felt the same when I discovered Flylady. It was a huge discovery to me at the age of 37, that if I want a clean and tidy house, then only I could make it happen! I've been flying for a year now and feel like a weight has been lifted now I'm all decluttered an organised.
This forum had been really helpful to me too. In fact, moneysaving and homemaking have become an obsession!
Keep up the good work. The family will come round eventually. At the moment, you're doing it because it makes YOU happy!Best wins: ITV Real Deal CASH,Trip to Lapland.0 -
:T That's such a lovely post OP, really it is. You're the one who's done all the hard work and I'm glad it's working for you. I've learnt so much from this forum too and I love the way that people are willing to help and give advice.:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0

''For the past 3 weeks ive been doing the meal planning before i go shopping and although sometimes time consuming it has saved me £30.00 per week so now shopping bill is around £40.00''
Even if it takes you 2 hours a week to meal plan you are in effect 'earning' £15 per hour, and that's brilliant! Well done!!We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.

Thanks to this my shopping bill has almost halved. I've meal planned for the next three months (always changing though, but at least I can see what I've already got to use!) Nearly all of my shops now are 'top ups' and are no more than £30 (unless OH fancy's a bottle of wine or three) :j I agree everyone on here's an inspiration!
Thanks from me too

What a lovely post Destiny but I agree with other posters, its you who made the changes, and you who deserve the big pat on the back!! :T
I'm more than twice your age and I cant tell you how much this forum has changed my life, my outlook and my finances in the last 2 years and all for the good!... don't throw the string away. You always need string!
