Yes it is weekly, you have to sign a form which you would probably sign when you go to sign on.Torgwen..........

When you "sign on" you are signing a legal declaration that states you have not done any un declared work in the period that you are signing for.
You should always declare any work either paid or unpaid.
The forms you will need to complete are; A15C, which only needs completing the once (or whenever your claim is reviewed) and each fortnight when you sign on you will be given a B7 to complete.
You need to declare work not just for the earnings aspect but also for the availability aspect. You can only work up to 16 hrs per week.
The reason it's each week is because your benefit is assessed weekly.
Depending on your circumstances, you should get to keep first five pounds of earnings.
When it comes to benefits honesty is always the best policy.VBird74 :j0 -

well you sign on fortnightly, so you would declare what you had earned in the past fortnight. Anything over and above the permitted amount is knocked off £ for £ from your JSA. At least that is what used to happen when I last claimed (in 2000).

vBird74 offers good advice on this one. All work/education has to be declared either at Fresh Claim stage or from the date it commences during a current claim.
£5 is the disregard for a single person with no other complications on the claim. Disregards can go quite a bit higher than that if you are claiming as a Lone Parent or if you are receiving DLA etc.
There are Information Booklets you can download fromthe DWP (SSA if you are in Ireland) Website or you can check your JS40 (I believe its called something else in GB).
