Hi juststarting,
We have an older thread on descaling an iron that should help so I've merged your thread with it to keep all the suggestions together.

I read something somewhere about using citric acid to descale - is that true? If so how do I use it (I've got some from wine making)0

Sorry I haven't got back earlier but land lord wnated a house inspections so been cleaning windows blinds and everything else. House looks lovely now just wish I could keep it like this. Any way I will give the iron a descale tomorrow with the vineger. Thanks for all the help.0

I've stupidly let the scale build to just a few jets up despite it having a calc clean function. My old one used to trip everything in the house so I've never used this one but I realise I should have been doing it switch ed off (Doh!).
Result is it is rubbish to iron with, please can someone tell me how I can clean it out inside. Is there something I can buy? It tells me in the instructions (obviously) not to put a descaler, vinegar, etc.. inside it but what else can I do? It is a Philips Azur.
Thank you.1 -

We sure can!
If you take a look at the "Cleaning" section in the "MEGA Index" sticky at the top of the board you'll find links to threads on cleaning and descaling an iron, and others on kettles which can be adapted to fit your needs
