Big tesco mistake in my favour what to do?

  • I work for Tesco, and I don't think they can take points back once they have been given, if for say that the person putting the points on hits the wrong button so adding to many points they don't have the facility to take them back. I would still want my delivery money back.
  • I'm sure customer services would be able to do something about it, in sains they can add nectar points or take them away for individual items so I'd guess tesco wuld be similarly capable. I wouldn't risk it now wait until they've been converted like someone earlier said and then phone up.

What's wrong with being honest these days? Maybe tesco often overcharge customers and that's bad, but being the same as them is bad too.

I went to get points put on my clubcard account once for a £20 spend, and the CS person accidently put on 2000 points instead of 20. They saw what they had done but said they were unable to remove points......

Also, not wanting to be a party pooper here, but.....

you may be under no moral obligation to point out Tesco mistake, but you are under a legal obligation. It's called the law of mistake.. If someone else makes a mistake, eg. giving you too much change in a shop, you are under a legal obligation to make restoration. It comes under the Theft Act...

Having said that, I wouldn't bother - i'm no fan of Tesco...

Tesco won't give you a second thought when they rub their greedy hands with glee each time they take your money and so increase their obscene profits.

Neither have they any morals when it comes to opening more and more stores both in and out of town thereby putting small shops out of business. They're taking over the world with their exploitative measures.

I can only say what I'd do - if you ring about the delivery charge now it could open a can of worms. I'd keep quiet and reap your own profits after you've converted these points.

Just keep thinking to yourself they're such an altruistic company that they've given you the points of the goodness of their little hearts to compensate you for inconvenience.

Right I'm off now to fill up with fuel so I can get some more points!
I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!
  • I cant believe how lucky you were! They didn't tell me their delivery guy had gone home sick, I found out when I phoned up to find out why my delivery was an hour late. They told me they could not reschedule it for 6 days, and when I told them to stick it as I needed my shopping for a function that weekend it took they a week to refund my card. I had to borrow money to tide me over and I didn't even get a decent apology infact the guy I spoke to in customer services was so vile he made me cry. After three months of exchanging letters customer services eventually gave me a £10 voucher as a gesture of goodwill!!! Needless to say I have never bothered trying to get my groceries delivered again.

    Be honest.
  • Something similar happened with me and Sainsburys - bought a LCD TV worth £900 which had to be returned. I asked them to remove the points accrued (about 1800) but they said once they are on, they are mine!

But as for TEsco, I would screw them 7 days a week if I could....

Sleep as well as the Chief Exec of Tesco does at night!!!!

Thats just them being a bit dense because they can take them off! Otherwise whats to stop people buying expensive items and just returning them? £1000 tv at tesco gives you £40 in deals!

I used to work for Tesco and one time a customer gave me an old receipt and asked me to add on his points, it was supposed to be 30 points so I tapped it in quickly and pressed OK, well, I must have lent on 0 too long because I had given him 3000 points instead of 30!!!!

There was nothing I could do once I had pressed OK, so I just smiled sweetly at the customer and he left the store with a big grin on his face!:rotfl:
