He should get himself a myspace music profile too. Good way to get yourself new fans. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0

He should set up a Myspace music page and start gigging..........
Most labels wont pick people up off the street (like in pop idol) they tend to like acts that have been around for a few years, matured, wrote an album or two and have a small following already and a small tour schedule. Some awards he has won also help like battle of the bands , local radio contests etc etc.....
It also helps if he has an idea of the demographic that will eventually download and buy his work and a good idea of how many cd's he has sold privately. Always remember its about making money for them and yourself, lots of people get caught up in the "oh im famous" thing but its a business transaction like any other. You have to prove you can shift records, sell gig dates and have a fan base that will always keep you going in the money department.
Has he got his own album yet? If not he should write one and take plenty of time too. Try not to sound like anyone else but write about his own experiences and things. It helps if he has been around the block a little as the stories and ideas should flow lmao!
Is he in contact with the local music scene? Other singers/bands he could work with/gig with? Duets can sound wicked on a demo as it shows your not just in your bedroom doing things... Myspace is a good start for this but I would write most of the album and create a good Myspace site first...........
If he is realy serious about singing then dont even dream of pop idol! Far better to write his own genuine albums, create a fan base who realy do love you for you not just love you because your the latest thing and to have a sustainable income and keep going for the long run.0 -
