I work for a deaf charity and would suggest using private hearing aid companies with caution. Many will do the test and give the hard sales push to buy hearing aids and often people seeking these tests are elderly and vunerable....I have seen it many times.

For a free and easy hearing test from your own living room use the free do it yourelf hearing test by the charity RNID :D

    http://www.breakingthesoundbarrier.org.uk/home/
    Tel 0845 600 5555

or get a referral from your doctor to your local audiology department.:D

A NHS hearing aid is usually better than the private aids you can buy. The RNID (I don't work for them by the way!) or your local deaf services / OT Dept/ charity will also be able with a huge range of other hearing aids and listeners such as personal listeners to use with you telephone or tv.

    Hope this help
