when my daughter needed a pram we viewed about 100!!
My advise make sure it fits in the car, is light and easy to put up and down, the handle is tall enough for you, negotiate for wet weather covers. changing bag and foot muff etc we walked away with a very good deal from a small local pram shop after looking in mothercare etc.
my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!

with prams it's very hit and miss though, what someone raves about, someone else will find lots of faults in and vice versa(Phil & teds springs to mind as a 'marmite' pram, some love, some hate). You're very best bet is to go to as many shops and try them out, then when you find the ones you like start hunting the best deals and prices, don't do it the other way round. Trust me from experience.

Very good advice from Woby there , what you need to think about is how it is going to be used , do you own your own car or will you be using public transport . Do you live in the town (4 wheeler most appropriate) or will you be going for long walks in the countryside (3 wheeler the better option) . Do you want baby to be able to face you for the 1st few months or not ? Do you want a carrycot then a separate seat unit or do you want a pramette or just a normal buggy with a car seat stuck on top (travel system) . It really is a minefield with buggies/prams and one that you may set your heart on will be no good for you or the car seat won't fit in your car etc , so sit down and write a list of exactly what you want from your pram and then you can start to work out your options . PM me if you want a link to a very good board forum where we are all pramaholics , I currently have 9 buggies , but have had over 40 in the last 3 years , and there are some ladies on there that have had over 100 buggies/prams !

And I personally hate the P&T buggy , especially in doubles mode where the baby is just slung underneath in the shopping basket , that's what it looks like to me anyway ! :rotfl:
Baby Thomas born 3 months early by emergency section on 21/1/09 weighing 1lb 15ozs .
Thomas came home after 3 months and 2 days in hospital weighing 5lb 15ozs
    Thomas weighed 21lb 4ozs on his 1st birthday , a total weight gain of 18lbs 5ozs !

If you are travelling by bus-one that can be operated with one hand is useful.

as well as measuring the available room in your car to transport a folded buggy, please don't forget to measure your front door, and anywhere you plan to store your buggy at home, whether open in the hallway, or closed in a cupboard.

  • If you are on a budget, would you consider 2nd hand from somewhere like Ebay....Test drive buggies in shops and then look on Ebay. I would personally recommend the mamas and papas pliko pramette, and I think they sell quite cheap on ebay.

    I've been Money Tipped!
My pram for my DS who is now 7 yrs old was a Mamas and Papas one, it served me very well and my DS always looked very cosy. It is now taking care of its 4th baby with a friend and still looks in brilliant condition over 7 years later, I have to admit it was about £500 new but imo if you are planning a big family and find one you really like if is worth the investment.

we got the mamas & papas sport 03 wich is one of the chunky 3 wheeler types.
bit bulky if you need to fold them for the bus, however we have single deckers with pram spaces here and i have a big estate.
good in use though all the release buttons take a few goes to loosen up

must admit im more inclined to take it up over parks with the chunky tyres ;)
