I'm not sure of the etiquette on this board but seeing as cuba cat seems well adjusted and sensible I thought I'd suggest it. Have a look at the Gambling Introductory Offer Loopholes board and look into Matched Betting. Not an endless pot of money but a pretty much perfect way to make £50 a month for a good while from home. Just doing the UK bookmakers at 1 or 2 a month will do the job. A couple of the more generous ones will even take care of that £50 for a few months by themselves.
The people on the newbies thread there are very helpful with spreadsheets etc to make it very safe for a sensible person to do.0 -
Switch to interest only, saving you £x p/m stick half of that saving in an isa / pension / endowment /whatever as long as it's a regulated investment. Throw away the illustration, make your signature look somewhat different to what it nomally does and sit back and wait for A or B.
A: the Investment will perform well repay your mortgage and possibly leave you with a surplus.
B: The investment will not do so well and leave you in a deficit, you then scream mis-sale, deny you signed such and such say you were gaurenteed repayment and claim compensation.
A History tell us worked for almost two centuries up to say 1990 and might again in the future.
B: History tells us works just as well. It might not in the future though especially if they teach the regulators basic maths.0 -
I know someone who had to switch to interest only...... which is only £120 per month... i pay them £120 for ironing all my clothes per month..... this gets paid into the persons mortgage direct
Do you know anyone who you could do some ironing for ?? Maybe even try an ironong company nearby too see if you could get some work at home from them?

Selling up and renting may cost the same but if there is equity in the property, this could be used to clear other debts and reduce expenditure. The OP has debts listed in her sig so it is an option to consider.
In reality, there are multiple options and none of them are desirable.
1 - sell up and rent means you dont own a property
2 - lodger - lose your privacy
3 - reduce your expenditure - hits your lifestyle.
4 - extra work - is extra work
5 - move to interest only - puts the problem off until tomorrow and makes it harder to deal with later (every year you are on interest only makes the monthly repayment higher when you revert back to repayment mortgage)
Just want to ask, was the mortgage meeting with a whole of market broker or a tied mortgage clerk? If tied, you may find a whole of market adviser can come in with a better deal.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Forgive me, perhaps I'm feeling depressed, have just been listening to the BBC World Service - documentary about a woman who sold her daughter into prostitution because she needed a pension. Now very worried because the pension is HIV positive.
We think we've got problems!
Is Sheffield one of the towns with city centre new build flats, blighted by flooding, and now in serious negative equity?
The "problem" here is the toddler, living in a society where a lot of people would rather kids did not exist ("Madam, can we offer you and your son the table behind the potted plant next to the toilets?").
The obvious question which should be asked of the father is "......what are you doing to help?"
So it really boils down to ".........what can mummy and I do together and get paid for it?"
These days even a cleaning job won't want kids on site because of the electronic equipment all over the place - "Ok who poured orange juice into the printer?"
Unfortunately I get the impression that there is no "capital" available to finance the up front costs of selling, moving, and perhaps not a lot of "equity" left in the property?
So some sort of FLEXIBLE self employment cannot be financed - even if it was flipping burgers in a van parked in a lay-bye?
I wonder if there is a possibility of (say) 4 hours of parcel deliveries, with child in the cab?
The meter reader came today, dressed in his"Accuread" uniform, I wonder if that is a job with an element of flexibility.
Sheffield is not the ideal place to be doing these minimum wage jobs, I get the impression that there is quite a lot of competing female labour available? Probably not a lot of customers for a 120 GBP per month ironing service?
Harry.
