You'd probably get more help on the student board: I would start by having a look over there as other people have changed courses.
But if you know where you want to go, contacting that university's midwifery admissions tutor would be a good first step, to see if and when they'll have you!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Good advice from SavSue as usual!
Although psychology is related , it is not the whole thing in Midwifery, and you will find it completely different. My friend has started a midwifery course last year, but she is already a practicing nurse, so it will be different ,no doubt at her stage.
This is something you may need perhaps- nursing experience, or equivalent.
Also you need to consider if you are being funded by the LEA, and if they will continue to fund you depending on how many years you have already done at uni. Unless there is a special government fund due to shortage of midwives, which sounds likely!
I am currently doing a psy degree meself, and I know that a couple of mates looked into doing another kinda related degree in a neighbouring uni after completing the first year in psy.
The course was criminology, and they could convert to begin in 2nd yr, but there would be a lot of catching up to do in addition to getting to know new people and new environments.
I think you need to consider this at depth and question thoroughly why you want to change, before you do, if you haven't already that is.0 -
Hi
What did the universities that you have already contacted about this say?0 -
Midwifery courses will start in september so you could complete your ist year as you will have to pay anyway. I dont know if you can do a diploma in midwifery but my dd has just started one in adult nursing and get a bursery to do it. No fees are payable for the degree or the diploma.0
