  • halifax isn't costing me anything, they stopped adding charges etc when i made the first payment on it - which is why i heven't rushed to pay it off really.

Have had a productive day today really - spend the majority of the day cooking, and sticking stuff in the freezer so i can take lunch to work rather than spending £5+ every day at the sarnie shop.

still looking at cutting other stuff down.

credit card balance will all be moved to hsbc tomorrow, it will cost me £30 in the short term as i will have to pay 2.5% fee for the BT but will hopefully work out a bit better in the long run. And will cancel virgin card and cut it up so i'm not tempted to use it again.

I'm getting there, if i know exactly where i stand with things instead of burying my head in the sand about it then I know everything will get sorted a lot quicker and easier.

Thanks so much for your help Tiglet.

Virgin is MBNA, isn't it? I just bt'd my mbna balance to a tesco card. Within a couple of days mbna were on the phone to offer me a 9-month 0% deal with 2.5% fee.

As mbna do transfers into a current account, I just got £3600 at 0% in my current account for £90.

You'll need to think whether that's an option you want to take, now or later. I think you shouldn't rush to close your virgin card as there may well be some offers coming your way.
