Cold callers/ Debt collection

The address at which I live is being plagued by constant callers who won't disclose who they are. They are looking for a previous resident who has long since left, and despite my having told them this a million times, they call at least 2 times a day to ask for the same person. I have tried being nice, understanding, helpful, rude, abusive and angry but the message does not seem to get through to these morons, so what advice can you give to help me make it stop?

Ask them to identify themselves to you they have knocked on your door do not say anything about the previous resident un til they do , then pop down to the local police station say these people unidentified are calling twice a day express concern as they do not identify themselves and them make a formal complaint (i do not think they are dca workers ) .get the police involved0

Sorry my mistake - I meant they are calling on the phone twice a day!!!
I have asked them to identify themselves and they say they have no obligation to do so which makes me think that the previous resident or someone else who owes money has just given this number as a way of dodging their own debt.
It's a call centre thats doing the calling as I can hear all the other operatives in the background.FD claim WON!!!!

Do this, It's fun.
If you can divert your land line to another number then divert it to a 0900 !!!!!! line.
If you can't divert your landline and you can get hold of a cheap mobile somewhere when they ring tell them you have a new number for them to ring. Give them the cheap mobile number and then divert this number to a !!!!!! line. They pay the bill and get the !!!!!! line each time they harras you. I done it with the mobile version and it's amazing how it works. Apparently they have to redial at least 20 times a day to check that the number is correct then it all goes away. I suspect that the office boys get wind of the number then the boss puts a stop to it. The only downside is they still have your landline so you may need to change that number as well. Much more fun that getting the police involved......lol.0 -
I think there is an option with most landlines to reject calls from callers who have with held their number.....BOI Credit Card = Was £3500.00 Now £0.00
GE Capital Store Card= Was £1800.00 Now £0.00
