How long to receive tax rebate

My friend recently had a full pay out on her personal pension. She paid a lot of tax on this and has filled in a form to reclaim it (if she can).

I wondered how long this takes, she sent the form off 3 weeks ago and I wasn't sure how long process takes.

If anyone knows, would be grateful to hear

  • hi
It can take upto 3months. Just received mine today and the application process started in September 2007.

It probably was not the usual length of time as there was alot of letter exchanges going on between the Tax Office and I, I also needed my tax code changed and the application was for 2 different tax years in different jobs.

A work colleague's took 2months on a more straight forward case than mine.
    Working towards:
    [STRIKE]*House Purchase (2015)[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE] *Top-up pension (2016)[/STRIKE] [STRIKE] *Clear CC (2016) [/STRIKE]
    *Mortgage
Overpayment (50% LTV by Jan 2020) *Clear student Loan(by Jan 2020)[STRIKE]*Save for a Car (2017)![/STRIKE]
    *Making the most of life!!!
  • Update on this query:

A letter has come saying the claim has been sent on to the correct tax office??!!
Then another letter arrive from the new tax office showing new tax code for the year.
There is no mention of whether a tax rebate is due or not?
Are we to assume they are waiting till the end of the tax year to establish any other income before issuing a rebate. Or should we ring and enquire what is happening?
Thanks very much for any help
