Payrise at work???

hi all thanks for taking time to read this first.
This may turn out to be quite a long thread, im hoping for some good positive feedback here.

9 months ago i started working at a new care home after spending more then 5 years at a previous pysciatric unit but still providing care.
In my previous place i was a senior which i was getting paid £8 p/h which at the time was very good, but i left there due to my position there being made untenable, so i took the next care job i could which is where i am now only problem is my pay is now at £6.44 but been told by manager its going up to £6.76 which is good, but still alot lower wage then what i feel im entitled to.

Ive asked if there are anymore senior positions coming up as we taking on more staff and what i do in extra work basicly covers the senior role but was told no, but i dont want to stop doing them as it will basicly show im not intrested, im also attending all the extra trainning they provide to futher myself within the company and doing all the extra hours which i thought was showing willingness.
Its a really lovly company to work for and im enjoying it so not sure if i want to leave....
I always keep an eye on other jobs in carearound area to just see what they paying of which they all pay £1-2 more p/h then im currently getting.

Im toying the idea of writting a letter to my manager and area manager explainning what im doing as extra and basicly trying to justify i think im worth more of an increase but i dont wanna tread on any toes.

so im kind of after some valued input here or suggestions on how to handle situation or anything really....

In some ways you have to balance the "lovely" company with the pay rate.

You may find that some comparable jobs locally pay more but the organisation is less to your liking.

Perhaps your employer can't afford to pay more.

However, you are right to think you need to show you are worth more than you are paid. How are you helping them save money, provide better care, improve their reputation, or whatever? Try to quantify in a monetary way what you are offering.
  • if i write a letter to my manager and state why i think im good enuff for a payrise etc etc, and wrote one to my area manager as he has the final say on payrise's do you think im going over my managers head by doing this and p[otentially facing a difficult time in the future with her for going over her head.

your first port of call should be your immediate line manager.... dont go over their heads...... as it could lead to having the opposite affect from you line manager in that you have gone behind there back
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)
