Help Please..what can I make?

Options
I was hoping to stick some of Twinks hobnobs in the oven whilst its roasting some lamb but I only have plain flour. Is there anything else I can knock up quickly for the lunchboxes without SR flour and ..no eggs...I have everything else?

I was really looking forward to some oaty biscuits.

TIA

Don't you have any baking powder? If you have, scones are easy to do.

225g/8oz self raising flour (plain flour + half ounce baking powder)
    pinch of salt
    55g/2oz butter
    25g/1oz caster sugar
    150ml/5fl oz milk

Rub butter into flour/bp/salt till it resembles breadcrumbs, add sugar, add milk until mix combines without being sticky. Flatten mixture on floured surface so it's about an inch thick, cut shapes and place on baking tray. Bake for 12-15 mins at 220c/450f/gas 7 until golden.

    Hi ellas,

If you have baking powder you can turn plain flour into self raising flour. Have a look at this thread:

And if you make self raising flour you can make Brown Sugar Biscuits from this site. ;)

  • Thanks everyone!

I whipped up a batch of hob-nobs by turning the flour into self raising flour....How cool..thanks for the tip  .

Those biscuits are gorgeous..I've had to hide half of them so that they last the week for lunches.

I've been trying not to use so many eggs lately (getting expensive) so thanks for also reminding me of shortbread, scones and flapjacks.

    cheers

    Hi ellas,

Glad to hear that you got sorted. :) Twinks hobnobs are lovely aren't they.
