Its a bargain at the price, but lexmarks are very well known for being thirsty on ink - which doesn't come cheap.
I've never found the cartridges cheaper than £15 each a shot (I had the same model a few months ago) - of course, that doesn't mean you can't get compatibles - just that I couldn't find any.
Worth checking that first though, at £15 a shot it's expensive long-term and you'd be better off looking for an Epson or Canon bargain (plenty of compats for most of their models)0 -
Chillpill, why not FYO (fill your own), its easy and cheap.

Interesting about filling your own - a relative of mine has a Lexmark and the ink is a complete rip off.
Is there a 'how to' thread anywhere that I could read about re-filling these yourself.
Cheers.0 -
Tried re-filling my own on this model. Didn't print anything for a couple of days and the ink dried out in the cartridge and I was unable to print. Apparantley lexmark use a certain additive to ensure the ink doesn't dry out on their oem cartridges. So best to stick with the oem cartridges (pricey.)0

I bought a Lexmark inkjet printer for £9.99 when W H Smith had it on special offer, filled it up with a Tesco value inkjet refill kit, as the demo cartridges only lasted about a week
Trouble is the green plastic clip that holds one of the cartridges in broke off within a month of buying it
Thanks to all who post constructively.

Lexmark are the old IBM printer manufacturing arm, and make the Dell inkjets too.
Ikalka, there are threads about refilling on the Consumables board.
I have never had problems refilling and only buy makers own new if 75% off.
You must be carefull to equalise pressures when refilling and never let empty cartridges stand and dry out. Always seal the print-head when not in the printer with tape similar to that supplied when new, (save the tape from new ). Sometimes dried up cartridges can be revitalised by soaking the print-head , by letting it stand in shallow water.
