If any one comes they have no power to do anything - they are unable to gain entry to your house and you can just ask them to leave if they do knock the door.
WHat I suggest is that you gather asll your inforamtiob about your debts and your finances and make contact with one of the debt companies like Payplan, CCCS for help in sorting out your situation.I am a debt counsellor working in the voluntary sector - we don't charge our clients for the work we do!0 -
It could be that they are coming to collect your credit card from you, but I would suggest calling Halifax to confirm that one of their reps are coming, in case it is some form of scam
Can you offer to pay anything, even a token £5 a month?
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Hi Iheartjpivien,
First of all as AGB863 mentioned they are unable to gain entry to your house. You need to put together a SOA this will detail all your incomings and outgoings. From this it will give you an idea of how much you would be able to afford on a re payment plan to Halifax. If you have more than one debt you need to make a payment offer that is fair to all creditors. There are a number of ways that you may choose to deal with your current situation. As a general rule they all need to include a SOA as the foundation from which to begin. Whist we cannot advise you fully on your financial situation via this forum we do have an online advice facility called Debt Remedy where you can complete a SOA and be provided with advice on the best way to deal with your situation. This link will take you directly to Debt Remedy
What you must try and remember is a creditor can only have what you can afford to pay them so don’t feel pressured into paying them more. If possible try and make a token payment to Halifax until a long term solution is set in place this then show’s goodwill. If there is a contact number for the the person that is visiting, give them a call and advise them that you will be in touch with an offer soon.I am a Debt Counsellor that works for the CCCS and have specific permission from Martin, to post on these boards to try and help those in debt. Read more information on the CCCS and what it does in the Debt Problems: What to do and where to get help article.
CCCS is a registered charity, and there is no charge whatsoever for any of the services we provide to our clients. We take great pride in offering first class help and advice, but we only offer this where we have been able to fully explore and understand your circumstances with you. We want to help you understand these choices and their possible implications but not make them for you.

I had a similar card once from Sainsburys and I think for debt management they use the same company. No one ever turned up. I just phoned the Collections team and made payment of whatever I could. I felt that they were using it to prompt a response from me as I'd been avoiding their letters and calls (mainly as I was dealing with other things at that time - namely a death in the family).Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0
