Quite pleased with myself!! Quite long!

I read someones post about experian, who i'm registered with, stating that things just arent showing. So i decided to do checkmyfile where i was mortified to find one default and 1 late payment.

The default was through no fault of my own, as it was with egg cards. I settled the account in full about 2 years ago, but overpaid so the cc was in credit and not debit by about 30 quid. But because i had closed the account, i cancelled the dd and due to maternity reasons i no longer used the email they had for me. So as far as i was concerned all was well. However about 12 months ago i got a letter from capquest stating that they were going to take me to court for £105. I sh%t myself and phoned and asked what the hell this was about. They gave me a no. for egg. It turned out they had credited me with the £30 twice making the account in debit. I obviously wasnt paying the min. payment as i had cancelled the dd.

I phoned egg up who said if i paid £50 that would sort it and they would remove the default from my credit report. Checking today they hadnt!!!
So i have phoned them and they are on to it (i hope).

I also noticed the one late payment on my natwest cc from 2004, so i phoned them up and asked what this was about. she checked my account and said over 8 years, i had only made 2 late payments and this should not have gone on my credit file. So i have to write a letter to get that removed, hopefully.
So i am happy that i am getting this sorted as i have been refused credit once.

Anyway, whilst on the phone to natwest, i asked if they could give me a better apr on my cc which they said no. I recently tranferred a balance to 0% with virgin, but there was still some left on the natwest cc. I phoned up rbs to close a cc account as i had paid it off, who offered me the balance transfer from the natwest cc to the rbs card for 6.9% for the life of the balance.

So i'm chuffed as i feel i am on top of things and am going to get out of debt asap!!!

Also cut my sky package saving £17 a month as i didnt realise you didnt have to pay the £10 for sky plus anymore if you dont have the premium package and have swapped my electricity provider, so should be receiving some credit from my existing provider.

Now just have to concentrate on the diet!!! (One thing at a time as i eat nutella on toast) :rotfl:

Life's way too short!

That's brilliant, really sensible to keep an eye on your credit record, and switching suppliers is great :)
  • That's really good :D (and sounds worthy of a nutella-based celebration to me ;) )
