Please help, feeling naive - questions/letters requesting a CCA

I have 2 unsecured debts of which I want to request a copy of my credit agreements.
The first was origionally with The Associates, Credit Card but has finally
been sold on to McKenzie Hall debt collecters. They are chasing £3050.00
The second was a Lloyds TSB, Credit card but has finally been sold on to 1st Credit. They are chasing £2500.00.
When I asked Mckenzie Hall when they finally contacted me for a copy of my CCA, they basically said no chance as the debt was so old and had been sold on so many times. According to them I also have no right asking for such info due to the age and lack of payments against the debt. I fear 1st Credit will say the same.
Is this right??
I feel it may not be reading some of this forums posts!
If I have rights to request this info, how do I go about it? I really want to see all paperwork relating to these debts, including charges added etc. Would there be a charge for this?
No very good at composing letters.

Oh, and I meant to add, since these companies found me, I have been paying them small payments each month but they constantly want more.
Do I stop or continue with payments whilst requesting a copy of my CCA and other info??Rachel0 -
No that does not sound right at all.... everyone is entitled to a CCA for their debt. I don't really know what to suggest, but don't disappear, as some one who does should be along shortly, so sit tight!

Hi Rachel
It doesnt matter how old the debt is or if you have been paying them, you are still legally enitled to see your "alleged" CCA, they are trying to fob you off  - if they cannot provide this sthen they cannot chase the debt. If 12 working days plus 2 has passed since you posted the CCA, you can now stop payments as they are in default of your request. If a further 30 calender days has passed since the 12+2 ended they have committed an offence or they will have when that time scale has passed.
Please feel free to Pm should you require any further help but after the 12+2+30 days and they havent produced a true CCA you are quite within your rights to report them to TS, OFT etc etc as they are acting illegally in chasing an illegal debt so to speak.
HTH and like I said, feel free to me xx0 -
I think that you have to presume that these sort of people will lie and bully
Keep posting on here until you get it sorted out, people have real knowledge and want to helpLoretta0 -
Hi Rachel,
As the others have said, you are entitled to a copy of your CCA, and a notice of assignment. There is a charge of £1 for this, and there are template letters in various threads on this board. This thread includes one, if there's a better version then perhaps someone will post a link.
Be careful when writing to DCAs never to sign your name. Some of them have been known to forge signatures on fake documents! Also pay the £1 fee by postal order rather than by cheque for the same reason.0
