As some may remember we moved house last September---we moved to a new property and the only option for the phone/internet was BT!!!!!We had to pay a charge to get it connected(not sure now how much but very expensive---think it was over £100!!!). We then tried to set up a direct debit for monthly payments
I didnt want to get a quarterly bill and be struggling to pay it!!!The first bill we got we were told we HAD TO PAY IN FULL and then they could set us a DD up!!! So, fair enough i paid it in full and waited til we got the next bill and then asked to get the DD sorted. After numerous calls I finally managed to get through to the call centre in Aberdeen. I told them i had tried to set up a DD and no one seemed to be able to sort it. They tried yet again to fob me off ---saying i needed to pay this second bill in full etc etc. I said i wanted to speak to someone in charge and got put through to a Coach/team leader. At this point, BT had restricted our line to incoming calls only til the second bill was paid!!!!! I told the team leader we have BEEN TRYING TO PAY OUR BILL to no avail!!!! He couldnt apologise enough and said he would get our phone put back on and ring me back with a payment plan. So, I waited all day for the call which never came. Anyhow they put the phone back on but still didnt contact me re sorting out the DD/payment plan!!!Yesterday, after a week had passed i rang them again and asked what was going on. I again, spoke to a team leader and he said DONT WORRY YOUR PHONE ISNT GOING TO BE DISCONNECTED and your payment plan is getting sorted and i will ring you back in the next week to sort it!! He also said the account has been frozen for 14 days whilst they get it sorted.Soooooo, hey ho, i get up this morning and guess what----OUR PHONE HAS BEEN TOTALLY DISCONNECTED!!!So i cant even ring them to sort it out
I mean what am i suppose to do????Has anyone else had problems with BT? I have never been with them before----always NTL AND VIRGIN and no problems with either!!!!Thanks for any advice xx

BT are a bunch of jokers. I asked them to make a minor change to my account and they disconnected me completely. I had to go to a phone box to get them to put it right. Even then, they said it would take a week! After that, to cut a long story short, they passed my account on to a number of DCAs because I hadn't paid my bill, even though I'd been paying by DD for years.0

Also be careful with setting up a DD with them.
They ask for low payments for the first couple of months before hiking it up.
Well that's what happened to me anyway

as this problem has been going on for more than 12 weeks you can contact ofcom http://www.ofcom.org.uk/complain/ and report it as a complaint. why don't you ask to pay monthly then you still won't get a big bill but they don't need a DD, once its been sorted of course. However now you have a BT line you can swap to any other provider.0

E-mail the CEO. He personally responded to my e-mails and got things sorted out for me. His name is Ben Verwaayen... I think his email is first.lastname@bt.com:money:0

yes and then you get into credit (nearly 2 months direct debit worth in credit) and they refuse to lower it :rotfl:at this rate i will have a cheque for over £1k coming to me when i decided to be bothered to be passed around the globe for an hour :rotfl:0
