Statute Barred - 6 years??

Just wondered if anyone can give me some advice on this.

Further to my post yesterday, I have 2 unsecured debts that I am being chased for. I lost contact with these companies as they sold the debts on etc but they now they have found me and are chasing me constantly (wont accept my offers, threatening etc.)

I think there maybe a chance it has been six years that these debts have lay dormant or I have literaly made a couple of payments but I need to know how I can find such info and if I qualify, so to speak.

Are there any good websites or where can I find out?

Thanx

Rachel.

    Hi Rachel

Firstly DO NOT make any further offers by phone or post to any of the companies contacting you. Instead, ask them to send you the paperwork relating to these debts. (This does not mean you are ACKNOWLEDGING the debt). Their paperwork will show you how old the debts are and whether any payments have been made in the last 6 years.

Unfortunately, if you have made ANY payments within the past 6 years then this counts as you having acknowledged the debt, and so the 6 year period starts again from the date of that payment. For further info see the link below.

EDIT: Assuming the debts are statute barred, send the following letter to the creditors to put an end the matter.
