need credit

hi i was wondering if someone can give me some advice please.. ive got 12k on a credit card i want to pay off,,, ive had problems gettin credit in last few months as ive had a few missed payments on my accoutns,, ive no ccj's or anything like that..i recently payed for my experian credit score and was horrified to see my score was down at 71!!!!
ive been applying for credit through diff companys with out success...
i recently re-mortgaged and have around 12k equity i can not touch!!!
ive not spoke to my mortgage lender yet and was wondering if anyone has had same problems or has a good advice????
much appreaciated if anyone can help as its getting me down..

  • Sorry, I cannot help as I haven't applied for credit in years - too afraid I'll be laughed out of the building! but i hope you sort something out.

    Rather than applying for redit, have you tried applying for a balance transfer? Anywhere with 0%, or contact you existing card provider and see if they can offer you any deals for a fixed period?

  • The more times you apply for credit and get refused the more your score goes down. All the companies see that you have been turned down and assume your a risk. This is why your told to wait (6months i think) before trying again. You can't use the equity because thats a safety cushion your mortgage lender likes to keep between you and 100% mortgage. If your not bothered about getting credit again contact cccs and they will work out a DMP for you, or try to negotiate direct with your card company but you can always get free expert advice on the phone from cccs about whats best.
    Its time to nut up or shut up......!:laugh:
