ccj or not ?

can a ccj be put in place without you being contacted ,i had a letter from debt managers ltd weeks ago about a debt they was after i worked it to be 7 years ago since i had made any payment then i moved , so sent them the statre barred letter 2 weeks ago no letters since then ,
so i am asking could one turn up saying still have to pay cause of a ccj that i never recived ?

Not sure about this. I'd have thought that if a CCJ was served against you the court would have to inform you via post. Seing as they should be able to trace your address through the elect register, i'd have thought you'd know. I suspect its a company just trying you for a sucker. So one whose had a CCJ will be best placed to advise you on this. But i'd have thought only the original creditor or its appointed DCA would be able to file for a CCJ against you and as such they would have the signed CCA as well. I would sugest no signed CCA or pucker proof of a CCJ means no debt. Suspect you won't hear back from them but play smart if you do.

You can get a CCJ without knowing it.

If you move without informing the creditor that you are moving and fail to give a new address, then the Courts claim form will be sent to your old address.

The lack of a response to the claim form can result in a "default" judgement being made against you.

But it sounds very likely that there is no current CCJ regarding this debt.
