Hello new to this site after hearing Martin on Radio 1.
We have approx £18,000 of debt that we really would like to get rid of.
Debt is for various things and ranges from £200 to £2000. Would really like to get a single loan to clear debt and then only have 1 payment to make each month rather than 12. Trouble is we are self employed, rent our home and have very poor credit ratings. (not all of this is our fault. lots of incorrect info on our credit files which we cannot seem to get rid of).
Are we on a different planet or is there a company that could help?
Thanks

I think you need to put up a SOA statement of affairs, so list all your incomings and outgoings from rent, council tax down to budgetting for christmas, dentist etc. You also need to list your debts, balance and APR and payments each month. There is a thread listed by SS which I will try and find the link. I wouldn't suggest that you consolidate and if your credit rating is poor you are unlikely to get a loan for the amount anyway. Once you have got your finances under control you can then tackle incorrect info on your files.

I'd agree with Sally, if you post your SOA people will be able to suggest where you can save money. If you post all your debts with interest rates they'll also be able to suggest which you should pay off first. I know getting a consolidation loan isn't always the best way so other ideas might be forthcoming. Good luck on your debt free journey.
The statement of affairs link Sally mentioned is here;

Can only echo what has already been said..... if u have a bad credit rating, u will probably find that either a) u won't get any more credit or b) u will be charged a hideous int rate....
Put ur SOA up and the lovely DFWs will help see where u can cut back....'We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars' - Oscar Wilde0
