How do i go about getting a lodger??
I'm in some debt and although i am trying to lessen it other ways a lodger would maybe be a way of getting out of more debt quicker.
I rent but would this make it illeagal or in any way dodgy???
Also the second room is small... And what furniture would i have to provide???

Thanks for any help.

Hiya - I don't know a great deal about it, but I think you can earn a certain amount (someone else may know how much it is) before you have to declare it. Have you got a tenancy agreement for your property? I would have thought that as long as there isn't a clause in there preventing you from sub-letting, you would be fine.
As far as furniture goes, I would think the minimum you would need is a bed, wardrobe and drawers (you could possibly get one of those wardrobes with a couple of drawers underneath is space is VERY tight). But other things like a desk/dressing table and shelves for books/dvds etc would be handy if you can fit them in.
Sorry if that's not very helpful, just trying to think back to when I was a lodger and remembering what I had.
Oh....if the room is 'cosy', do you have any other storage space that the lodger could use, if they have things that wont fit in? (loft etc)"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

I took in a lodger a few years back and there was no problem with him despite him being 18 and out of home for the first time - didn't drink, didn't smoke, just loved watching movies and studying. Perfect.

That and the £300 a month for a room was a big help
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0
