Alex I very nearly went with a fee management company they ran through on the phone a budget made it sound like I could afford it, sent the things through the post.
Then I sat down and thought hang on I still can't manage but they wanted there £100 a month for creditors so I searched the interent and luckily found the National Debt Helpline and went it alone. It is so easy to be taken in, I perversly I have enjoyted taking control and have been OK two years in it.
Well done and good luck for the future.
Quick plug floating around there is a DMP Supporth Thread Part Three and you will be amazed how many people are in there and a lot with CCCS so experts for any questions etc you may have.
Rayday2- Thanks for the msg. I checked the DMP support thread and it looks really useful. Can you please add me to it? Thanks. Alex.0 -

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR B&E!!!
I signed up 2 B&E in oct 2006 after suffering depression n not taking care of my finances, adviced by the CAB??
I was paying them every month until Sept 2008, when i missed a payment to them i recieved letters from the companies i owed money to telling me that i still owed the same amount, even though i'd been paying them??
when i spoke to B&E they refused 2 send me any information regarding my account? they told me its common for companies to lie to get more money out of the client.. B&E told me they were in contact with all of the companies in question but when i've spoken to the companies they tell me they have had NO contact with B&E apart from a letter B&E sent to bring it to the companies attention they were the middle man.
I have been at war with B&E since sept 08, i am no closer to resolving this matter n i'm still very much in debt.
I cancelled my account with B&E in Jan 09 and now they refuse to answer my questions or send me information i've asked for?
All i wanted from the service i've paid for is some communication, instead i've paid out £35 a month for management fees just to be told that half the companies have not recieved what B&E say they have..
Very frustrating so to save anyone else from this nightmare i'm telling you now DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THESE PEOPLE...0 -

I think if you do a subject access request under data protection law legally B&E have to provide all the info they hold on your on their files. You pay a £10 fee but might be worth it in your case.
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=963087 see post 14 for one example of a template.
(I presume B&E would be covered by a SAR request - anyone else confirm please?)A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Correct Tixy.
Do a SAR and they have 40 days to supply you with every bit of paperwork and electronic record they hold on you.
I would also be inclided to do a CCA request to all the credit cards, loans and catalogues (cost is £1 per creditor) so you can see what you currently owe.
or do a credit check on yourself.
I think you would be advised to talk to the OFT/FSA as well, and ask advice re a formal complaint. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I signed up to B and E towards the end of 2005 and initially their help was much needed.
However, now I am coming to the end of the plan I am still having huge problems with the circus that is Lloyds TSB. Despite sending all the paperwork to B and E and numerous phone calls every few days they really don't seem that bothered to use the powers they have as a financial organisation to deal with the matter.
At the moment I am more stressed with the Lloyds situation than I was with 14 creditors at the start.
I have instructed B and E to cancel many crediotrs from my plan lately as I have made direct contact with the companies to arrange final payments directly when the monthly statement comes through. This is probably the same way I shall go with Lloyds if B and E don't pull their finger out and do what they are paid to do! Grrrrrrrrrr.
My plan has been extended from finishing in Feb 09 to Aug 09 to Nov 09. At this moment in time it is debatable as to which company is the more useless. Go through CAB not this lot!0 -
Okay, I have £11400 in credit card debt. Only managing minimums. I have now run out of money for other things. Went to Nationwide, my bank, then RBS both said no. Tried Sainsbury's online loan. Everyone says I will feel better when I do something, but I am trying. What do I do!!0
