Probably not the best place to ask this - mods feel free to move!!
I have always been rubbish with keeping bills/paperwork etc. Mainly because i dont really have anywhere to keep it all.
What do you all do to keep yours in order? Do you have a filing cabinet etc.?
Sorry if it sounds dumb, i just really need to start sorting it all out.
Thanks

Hi, I used to keep it all in A4 ring binder folders - one for each type of bill.
But now married - OH has a 2 drawer filing cabinet so we keep them all in there in plastic pockets and suspension folders - which is actually easier than punching holes and clipping them in binders.
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Oooo i like the idea of the Lever Arch files. I think i have 2 or 3 at home. Thats a good plan, with some dividers in it..
Thanks

Hi Amy!
Well, I have a little basket in the hall way of my flat.
When I collect my post, I open, read and act on it (if I need to), then pop it into the basket.
Then on Sunday afternoons I have the time to sort them out into lever arch files.
I also have dividers. Oh and just a little tip, put the newest bill / letter / statement on the TOP of the pile in your lever arch file... it's easier to get to then as it's just behind the dividers!
Good luck!

I used the flylady method (is that still going?) of making a habit of dealing with any post as soon as I got in from work then any paper bills or letters I feel are worth keeping but don't require the originals I scan into the PC & then shred. Original copies needed for disputes etc go in a box file until not needed & then they get scanned & shredded as well.
I started out by setting reminders on my mobile phone, hotmail calendar, post its on doors & tv screen etc to get it done & now a couple of years on the habit is now so strong I don't actually feel like I've finished work until I've done it.0
