Does anyone know if its worth doing a booze run from Newcastle to Amsterdam? or other places? Is it any cheaper than driving all the way to France as I live near Newcastle? Its for my daughters 21st so just a one off.

hey!! me, 3 friends and a load of my friends family went on the ferry to amsterdam on the 15th december, dont know the company that it was booked with soz but it only cost me £40.
you get the boat on the friday have the night on the boat (theres the usual boat entertainment and the bars are quite good) then in the morning you arrive in amsterdam and have the whole day to see the sights lol. At around 5 that day you get back on the boat and travel back over night and return in newcastle on the sunday morning.
Its a cheap, stress free weekend and its a bit different. you have enough time to buy what you want and have a good drink in amsterdam. We are all goin back in feb, as it was such a good laugh the first time.
hope this helps xx0 -
We paid £120 for four of us to go on an outside cabin, brill crossing on the way there, fab sunset, lots of booze, really high spirits.
Sick as a dog on the way back!
You can get some really goods deals to go across and don't forget quidco, but it'll prob take you longer than driving to France etc however if you get a good crossing it's a lot less stressful than driving.
Have you thought about going somewhere on easyjet?

The ferry company is https://www.dfds.co.uk. and the boat goes every day. The ferries are quite luxurious, and Dfds often run promotions so the fares are very reasonable. Drink is cheap enough in the bars....Uk prices but good quality alcohol, and there are some good buys in the on board shop.

I think it depends on how big a party you're planning! it can be just as good buying wine and beer when it's on offer in places like Tesco...I think they have a good offer on rose cava just now - half price for Codorniu vintage rose cava. I think netto have a good offer on beer - don't know if it's drinkable but it's cheap!

Hi,
Thanks for all the input folks.
I was mainly looking at bringing branded drinks back like Jack Daniels and Smirnoff and wondered how the prices compared in destinations by ferry from Newcastle i.e. Netherlands, Norway, Sweden etc. Or is france far cheaper?
I might email Makro nl for some prices.
Thanks again all.

Wow that is cheap! I'll have to be on the lookout for some more cheap tickets, as I'm sure a couple of my friends wouldn't mind going either...

Most of the trips referred to are passenger only deals where you overnight on the ferry each way and have a day in Amsterdam. They can be extremely cheap in Jan & Feb
Think it might be slightly more expensive to take a car / van over0 -
